Nobody ever proposes cuts to spending, ever. Neither side does it, it is always reductions to future increases and they label it spending reductions. It's all about who they "cut" less from. Democrats prefer to spend in social programs, Republicans like to spend in military. SSDP.

Interestingly enough, also today, some Chinese crazy man went on a stabbing rampage with a knife. reported are 22 school children injured... Notice how they are INJURED, not dead. If guns don't kill people, they certainly make it a whole lot easier.

It is actually highly convenient for the republican party to drive the country over the cliff. If the tax rates increase automatically, they can give the prez what he wants (higher taxes on the wealthy), and they can say they lowered taxes at the same time.

The fake economy bubble finally burst and things snapped back to reality and over-corrected, that's what happened. Once it burst, govt receipts went down by half a trillion, and spending went up by almost the same amount due to bailouts. This had very little to do with budgets.

Seismic activity in Sweden is not even high enough to cause even a noticeable portion of this rise. You would need very frequent large earthquakes to achieve this; and a plate that is moving on top of another (or an emerging volcano, which is also possible).
